The Father's Heartbeat
The Father’s Heartbeat
I have spent a lot of time experiencing the Father’s heartbeat of love for these brave ones. These, plus two more you cannot see, in this little room the size of a walk in closet have been the open door by which I have also been allowed to share this heartbeat in Nepal. I can’t wait to rejoin them!
Meanwhile, there are still the ones for whom the heartbeat of BraveEverywhere exists. He continues to look after each one through your kindness, generosity and prayers. So I thought I would begin a short series about the BE family, starting today with a highlight about Kajal, one of our BE students.
BraveEverywhere seeks to facilitate the interruption that education brings to cycles of poverty and hopelessness.
As the first of her entire clan that has ever gone to school, of the lowest caste in Nepal, as a refugee, as a woman, as unmarried, essentially homeless, as the one solely responsible for her large family, she faced a cycle that would never end without direct intervention.
I will never forget the tiny window of time we had to facilitate her escape to India. I smile when I remember all the miracles that ensued to ensure her safe passage, and the wildly creative ways that God rescued her, essentially drawing His line in the sand over her life, from generations of unbroken pain and cycles.
The Father’s heart beats to rescue us in order for His perfect plans to be revealed through our lives.
She is the first Christian, (the picture above was at the church she attends when she can) the first woman with a promising career on the horizon, and the first to say no to traditions that have done nothing but steal, kill and destroy at every turn. I could not be more proud of her and grateful to God.
Kajal is now in her second year of nursing school, thanks to your support. It has not been easy for her. She even had to overcome her fear of blood! She daily encourages herself to stay strong, to trust Jesus and to study hard. It wasn’t until a generous donation toward the end of last year, well into her program, that we were able to secure a laptop for her, so that she could more effectively study and work. She lives in a hostel with no central air which is significant in the stifling heat of India, and has battled with all the ailments that are so common in the developing nations. One of the lessons she has learned is that of persevering. There have been some significant “I want to quit” moments for her, as she has cried buckets to share with me since she began, but every time, she found His grace that has met her in every tear. Most challenging is being alone in her faith, in a country that subverts the gospel, but she has found the love that keeps us, in Jesus. I know she would appreciate your prayers.
The Father’s heart beats to meet us in our struggles, healing our hearts so we can live in His strength and not our own.
She will hopefully complete this program by the end of next year! Just as she is growing in her nursing knowledge, she is also growing in her relationship with the Lord. Sharing the word with her and teaching her about prayer and worship has also been a a great privilege. I am thankful to report that she is growing in her faith.
The Father’s heart beats to lead us on His paths of righteousness, teaching, leading, and forming us every step of the way.
Recently, she came seeking financial relief and prayers for her family. There is rampant physical abuse of the women in her family from her father and brothers, and I often hear of hospital fees as she sends me horrendous pictures of said abuse. Sickness is also a frequent issue in her family, as one can imagine one would have from living in a slum with no nutrition and with zero sanitation. The struggles are real, and Kajal feels each and every one of them with her big heart. I will continue to seek His wisdom for the best ways to support her family at large, and the Blessing Village.
The Father’s heart beats to reveal His true nature, in Jesus, to the unbelieving world, both practically, and spiritually.
One of the important tenants of BE is for those in our care to feel known, seen, heard, and loved. It is the Father’s way. In getting to know Kajal over the years, I have so enjoyed the depth of her heart. I love her capacity for joy, for fun and creativity, for childlikeness, as well as seeing the nature of God shine so brightly through her capacity to weep with those who weep, and to hold the suffering of this world without shrinking back. It has been an honor to share with her the scriptures that reveal more about this, to stand on, when she feels overwhelmed. She loves to dance and laugh and share deeply and to spend time with friends in beautiful places, and I personally love that she can make a mean latte. She loves me too, and never fails to say so as she tries to entice me to come visit her in India. Kajal is a brave one.
The Father’s heart beats for His sons and daughters to know who they are through the eyes of the Father, and how He means for us to experience life in relationship with Him, in His grace, for His glory.
Kajal is a twinkle in His eye, and I know He has big plans for her. She has carried much pain in her life, but now has found hope in Jesus. That is the most beautiful thing that your partnership with me has meant for her. Her one beautiful soul is the one of the 99 He went to find and this is the greatest demonstration of His heartbeat of love, of all. I can still feel the joy over the day her heart opened to Jesus as her Lord.
The Father’s heart beats to draw us into His heart, so that He can father us perfectly for the rest of our days.
May she feel His heartbeat of love for her in every moment. May she never stop growing in her beautiful love relationship with Jesus. May she continue to grow in courage to spread His love wherever she goes. May He protect and lead her ever faithfully. May the generations coming from her be forever changed, carrying the hope of Christ to all the nations and ov967806ercome the servitude of every false religion, until the day of His return.
The Father’s heart beats to provide restoration through reconciliation, and that is the mission He has given BraveEverywhere. Thank you for being a part of every brave interruption, to the ones He loves in Nepal and in the nations.
Important note. Please do not share anything that I send to you, without my express permission. You can email me at haleyscottbrendle@gmail.com. To uphold honor for these personal stories, to protect the privacy of those we have permission to share stories about, and to maintain a measure of protection due to an ever increasing hostility to the gospel in Nepal, it is important to keep these stories in our small little BE family. Thank you!
